Eagle Rare Single Barrel
I bought a bottle of Eagle Rare, just because. Scott bought the exact same bottle and brought it to our cabin. I guess now would be a good time to mention that I’m at a cabin. It’s part birthday weekend, and part we-just-wanted-to-go-to-a-cabin. I’ll be 33 on Monday so I’ll probably be hungover on Tuesday. Ah, good future times.

FIRST DRINK OF THE BOTTLE: Again, this is Scott’s sauce, not mine, so thanks for the whiskey at not cost to me, Scott. Eagle Rare smells soapy. Tastes clean, too. I think it has a less memorable flavor than Old Pogue, but the overall quality is cleaner. I’d call Eagle Rare more of a sipping bourbon than a drinking bourbon.
LAST DRINK OF THE BOTTLE: It tastes a bit metallic to me, but satisfying and a bit like (I regret saying this already) corn. Very palatable. $26.99 per bottle seems on point.
Bottle #18 (my own, not Scott’s) finished on February 3, 2008.
